Adderley Church Fete Poolhouse

The Garden Party and gymkhana on June 30th was a great success in every way.   We are most grateful to everybody who helped with the Stalls and Sideshows and with the Gymkhana and Clay Pigeon Shoot.   But we are particularly grateful to Mr. and Mrs. West for allowing us to use their delightful grounds and for working so hard in so many ways to ensure it being a happy afternoon for us all. At the present moment £150 has been paid into the bank as a result but this will not be the final figure as there are one or two more items to come in.   It is hoped that there will be a balance sheet in the next issue of the magazine.

It was a privilege to have Eric Boon to open it for us: Many of his admirers were glad to have the opportunity of making his closer acquaintance. G.M.

The Financial result of the Garden Party is as follows:— New Stall, £32; Toys. £6 14s.: Bottle, £19 8s.; Nerve Tester, £2 2s.; Skittles. £9 4s. 6d.; Pony Rides, £3 5s.; Grocery, El 1 17s. 2d.; Gate, £8 17s.; Darts, £2 7s.; Treasure Hunt, £5 10s.; Ices, £3 10s.; Competitions, £11 16s. 10d.; Donations, £3 10s.; Gymkhana. £24 1 ls. 6d.; Donations, £14 Ss.; Clay Pigeon Shoot. £3. Total £161 18s., less expenses, £1, 2s. 4d. Balance, £149 15s. 8d.v

An important part of our project is to capture the stories and reminiscences of people who live here.  Volunteers who have been trained in taking oral histories, will capture these and the voices of the generations will be captured and held for all to enjoy on the website.
