Adderley Railway

Stories to Read

We have had this wonderful old video of the Wellington/Market Drayton branch line brought to our attention. It describes, from the point of view of the train journey, the route of trains which used to pass through Adderley before the line was closed.

If you don’t want to watch the whole video just forward the film to 4min 25 seconds when we see Audlem station followed by Cox Bank and then Adderley. A rare glimpse of our village as it was when it played host to an active railway line. Do you recognise anyone on the platform or can you contribute any of your own memories of the railway at this time? It would be lovely to hear from you if you do.

Do you have a story you can share with us?

Add a Story to the Collection

An important part of our project is to capture the stories and reminiscences of people who live here.  Volunteers who have been trained in taking oral histories, will capture these and the voices of the generations will be captured and held for all to enjoy on the website.

Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Adderley Heritage Project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to: create a heritage trail for use by all, save a collection of documents about Adderley’s history which would otherwise have been lost and begin a collection of oral histories that bring the heritage of Adderley to life.”
