Adderley Home Guard 1944

Stories to Read

Memories of the Dad’s Army days of the Second World War will be prompted for Adderley folk by this photograph of the village’s Home Guard taken in 1944. It has been loaned to the Advertiser by Mr and Mrs Robert and Gladys Lee, of Rowan Road. Mr Lee (80), a born-and-bred Adderley man, is pictured third from left in the second row. Between them, Mr and Mrs Lee have been able to put names to all the faces on the photo.

Add a Story to the Collection

An important part of our project is to capture the stories and reminiscences of people who live here.  Volunteers who have been trained in taking oral histories, will capture these and the voices of the generations will be captured and held for all to enjoy on the website.
