Adderley Heritage is offering a unique opportunity to find out how to capture oral histories from family, friends and neighbours. The event is on Monday 7th October 2024 at Norton in Hales Village Hall. 10am – 4 pm

You will understand how to capture stories and reminiscences from your family and friends, and, at the same time, add to the unique history of Adderley by saving precious memories of local people. Adderley Heritage has already been contacted by people who have offered their story. We need your help to record these and add them to the collection for our children and grandchildren to enjoy in future. You don’t need to be an expert to do this, you will be helped every step of the way through the training course we have arranged. You are asked to help with one interview for the project but the skills you have learned could be used to record your own family members as well so that your history is preserved. How often have you said, “if only I had asked Grandad, Great Grandma, Mum or Dad about that before we lost them”?

We would love to have you involved. Download the attached info which is a poster and a sheet with more information. We will be providing tea, coffee, cake and even lunch on the day and hope you will consider joining us to help preserve our history. Find out more and how to book through the attached or ring Val Nash on 07814 071 254 for an informal chat.

Add a Story to the Collection

An important part of our project is to capture the stories and reminiscences of people who live here.  Volunteers who have been trained in taking oral histories, will capture these and the voices of the generations will be captured and held for all to enjoy on the website.
