About
Geoff Butter grew up and lived in Adderley. Over 50 years he collated the history of Adderley into a collection which spans a period from 1065 to the present day. That collection forms the basis of the Adderley Heritage Project.
The challenge was how to preserve some very special, and very delicate items that Geoff had painstakingly collected. There was no environment of the right quality to preserve them. The result was a bid to Heritage Lottery Fund proposing that we:
- Create a website with all the items in a catalogue and the originals preserved by Shropshire Archives to keep them from deteriorating.
- Design a Heritage Trail with signage to the 7 key sites around the village
- Capture stories from our community about our history through oral history recordings
- Create a history of St Peter’s Church which has been at the centre of some exciting times in our history
Here you can explore the evolution of the project.
